Video Auditions
Welcome to Alive Camp Auditions
We’re excited that you’re preparing to audition for an Alive Camp musical production!
To make the most of our limited camp week, campers will submit a short video audition before arriving.
Recording at home often allows campers to present their best work in a familiar, low-pressure setting, while also enabling our team to begin the casting process ahead of time. This means that when camp begins, we can devote more time to in-person chemistry reads, ensemble work, and getting students actively engaged in rehearsals rather than spending the day on preliminary auditions. Our goal is to create the best possible experience for every camper while making thoughtful casting decisions that serve both the production and each student’s growth.
Please read through the information below carefully. This page will guide you step by step through the entire audition process.
Our goal: a clear, simple, and stress-free audition experience for both students and parents.
A Note to Parents about Casting.
Casting for Alive Camp is approached with care and intentionality. Our goal is not simply to assign roles, but to place students where they can grow, contribute meaningfully, and succeed as part of a team. Casting decisions are made by our team with both the needs of the production and the well-being of students in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why are auditions done by video?
Video auditions allow every student—regardless of location—to audition fairly and comfortably while giving families flexibility with scheduling.
Are there file size limits?
No. The WeTransfer upload link allows large video files without compression concerns.
Can my child re-record their auditions?
Yes. Students may re-record as many times as they’d like before uploading. Once files are submitted, they cannot be replaced.
Will auditions be shared publicly?
No. Auditions are viewed only by the Alive creative team for casting purposes.
Will there be callbacks?
Callbacks may be needed in some cases. These will take place on the first day of camp.
Will every camper receive a role?
Our summer productions are designed to include a large number of students, including chorus roles. All campers who sign up to participate in the music/drama or chorus/small roles tracks will receive a role in the production.
