“When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” – Psalm 27:10

When I was five years old, my parents forgot me in an old, dilapidated church. At least, I thought they’d forgotten me. We were visiting an historic landmark and I lost sight of them – mind you, I was 2 feet tall and couldn’t really see anything even if I was looking for it. But I believed I’d been abandoned and left to fend for myself.

Have you ever felt abandoned? Friends stop talking to you, parents don’t seem interested in your life, and everyone else seems far away. It’s like you walked onto the field to play the biggest game of your life, but no-one else showed up.

That’s how Satan wants you to feel. He wants you alone and depressed, because that’s when you’re at your weakest. By yourself, you’re a much easier enemy to defeat.

You’re not by yourself though. God promises to be with you even if everyone else leaves you behind. But usually, the people who love you are not very far away either. You have so many teammates, God being the one who loves you the most.

When you feel isolated, remember God’s love. You can trust that He’ll never walk away. Finding victory in life becomes a lot easier when you remember that God beats fear, promises protection, and loves you more than anyone else ever will.

Do you feel alone? Don’t let Satan cut you off from your strongest teammate. Remember God’s love, and discover just how many other teammates are closer than you think.
